Our Mission

The diaTribe Foundation was founded with a mission to improve the lives of people with diabetes and prediabetes and to advocate for action.

diaTribe Learn, a free, patient-focused online publication, seeks to empower our readers with useful, actionable information that gives them hope for a better future, and helps them live happier and healthier lives.

diaTribe Change, a platform for advocacy and action, is committed to changing the course of diabetes.

The Diabetes Epidemic

Diabetes poses one of the greatest public health challenges to our nation: 1 in 10 Americans have diabetes and another 1 in 3 American adults have prediabetes, according to the CDC. And that’s just in the United States – by 2045, more than 700 million adults in the world are projected to have diabetes.

At an individual level, diabetes can not only lead to devastating health consequences but it can also cause significant emotional, financial, and social burdens for people with diabetes and their loved ones.

At a societal level, diabetes imposes massive economic costs and strains the healthcare system significantly. Diabetes costs our world $1.3 trillion per year in direct and indirect costs. In the US alone, we spend $327 billion per year.

The Need for Change

diaTribe Change calls for a political and cultural shift in which reducing the burdens of diabetes and, ultimately, working toward a world without diabetes, becomes a priority.

There is no single answer to the diabetes epidemic, and change can only come from the combined efforts, and collective impact, of us all.

The Future, Envisioned

We believe that one day, we will reach the point in which our world can no longer tolerate the dire state of the diabetes epidemic and is compelled to take bold action. At The diaTribe Foundation, we want to accelerate that change.

Therefore, we have created diaTribe Change as a platform to keep our community informed about opportunities to change the system. Through collective action, we will amplify the voices of people with diabetes, influence the national conversation, and transform the status quo.

The diaTribe Foundation is fiercely committed to changing the course of diabetes. We can’t do this alone. Are you ready to take bold action and make your voice heard?
