Team Novo Nordisk’s all-diabetes cycling team will partner with the United Nations to celebrate World Bicycle Day on June 3. The first-ever global celebration will promote cycling’s potential to improve health and prevent disease.

UN leaders and diplomats, Team Novo Nordisk members,  and cycling community advocates will all gather in New York City to educate people about how cycling – and staying active in general – can help manage or even prevent diabetes, strengthen physical and mental health, and improve well-being. The groups are coming together based on common targets outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to reduce the burden and prevalence of non-communicable diseases like diabetes.

About a quarter of adults in the US are physically inactive, and active adults tend to live longer with a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, and some cancers – not to mention the benefits to mental health and wellbeing.
